Cell Phone Water Rescue

Save your wet phone

How to save a wet phone

Everyone's heart skips a beat when they drop their smartphone on the ground. If you don't have a good case, there's a chance it won't survive.  However, It's even worse if you drop it in the water. Unless you have a waterproof case, your smartphone is likely to die.
Or is it?
You might be able to salvage it with a few steps.
  • First, and most important, DON'T turn it on. If you turn it on with water inside, you'll fry the internal circuits.
  •   Wipe it down with a dry microfiber cloth. If the gadget is dirty, you can clean it with rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly, so the threat of a lingering drop penetrating your phone does not exist.
  • If the phone has a removable battery, take it out.
  • Then fill a container or bag with uncooked rice and put the smartphone in the container overnight. The rice will help pull the moisture out of the gadget.
  • Under no circumstances put the phone in the oven or microwave!
  • The next day, put the phone back together and turn it on. If it starts up, congratulations! If not, then I'm sorry to give you the bad news.........your phone has passed on to Cell Phone Heaven.  Start shopping.

iPhone 5 Case Style Review

What is the best iPhone 5 Case Style?

The best iphone case style

With so many great styles of iPhone 5 cases on the market, what is the best style?  The answer lies in the functionality and purpose of the user.  As there are many styles of iPhone cases available, we will review some of the more popular designs and their purpose below.

All styles are designed with some type of plastic or silicone shell to protect your phone against shock or abrasion.  Depending upon the degree of protection you require, you may need a silicone phone case which is also known as a phone skin or phone sleeve for accidental drops, a hard plastic phone case for more occasional accidents, or a hybrid phone case design which combines both elements for hazardous situations.  Some models will even use metal phone cases for a more dependable rigid structure.

There are also many cell phone cases which offer additional conveniences such as a stand for easy hands free viewing, credit card phone cases for secure storage of your credit cards or id, and much more.

TPU rubber case or Silicone phone case are a common and stylish design which is commonly found.  This provides a sleek and simple design to protect your phone.

Hard plastic phone cases offer more protection and can provide many different looks and styles for your iPhone.

The Hybrid phone case offers not only a blend of soft and hard surfaces, but also provides several convenient applications such as a stand, credit card storage, or both.

The Metal phone case uses a blend of aluminum and soft rubber or silicone to provide a layer of protection unlike any other style.  As plastic can crack and even the most durable of rubber can tear, these metal designs offer the best protection in extreme circumstances.

Cell Phone Usage Statistics

Cell Phone Screen Protector

phone screen protector

Do I really need a screen protector?

For most mobile device users, it's not a question of if they'll damage their prized mobile screen, but when.  As our mobile devices and applications are becoming more touch sensitive, it's important to protect the phone with some sort of shield device.  These devices are inexpensive and allow for items such as keys, change, etc. to touch the surface without damaging the sensitive screen.  Older models provided a clear plastic cover which was incorporated into the phone.  These were useful, but often times the user would have to press hard onto the screen to get any results in their apps.  Now the screens are applied directly to the surface using a static cling method which allows for increased sensitivity during application use.  For a couple of dollars you can have a worry free screen protected lifestyle.
